Young Life
Charles Spencer Chaplin born in London April 16th 1889. His parents Charles Chaplin Sr. and Hannah Chaplin both were actors and passed that down to Charles. He was later thrown to the streets at around the age 10 when his father died at 37 from drinking addiction and his mother fell ill. His brother Sydney joined the "The Eight Lancashire Lads" a group of tap dancers.
At the age 12 he made his first appearance on a stage show of Sherlock Holmes as "Billy" the page boy. At the age of 21 he later joined the Fred Karno Repertoire Company as a comedian. He came to America in 1910 on tour with the group, on a second tour in 1912 he was offered a job in motion picture, he later had agreed to the offer. Which would lead to many accomplishments in his life.

Career
Charlie joined the Keystone Film Company in 1923 and getting a pay of $150 a week. At 1915 after his contract with Keystone he joined Essanay Company at a large increase from before, his brother Sydney took his place at Keystone. Charlie was in high demand for other film companies, he had joined the Mutual film Corporation and had made 12 two-reel comedies. 1917 after his contract with Mutual, Charlie had decided to produce his own films. His first movie he produced was "A Dog's Life" , after that production he made "The Bond" and "Shoulder Arms" both were focusing on the war. Soon after he joined with Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks and D.W. Griffith to create "United Artist Corporation". Before Charlie could begin with the group he had to finish the production of "The Kid" and after the production he had gone to London for a bit of a vacation from the movies. After his Arrival back in 1921 under an agreement with the UA (United Artist Corporation) he made 8 movies "Women in Pairs", "Gold Rush", "The Circus", "City Lights", "Modern Times", The Great Dictator", "Monsieur Verdoux", "Limelight", and "A King in New York". In 1952 Charlie Chaplin had left America for good. He had then moved to Switzerland where he would live with his wife Oona and their 8 children.
Later Years
Charlie nearing the age of 70 made his last film in 1966 “A Countess from Hong Kong” for Universal Pictures. On Christmas 1977 Charles Spencer Chaplin had died age 88. Through his life he had been successful as an actor, composer, director, muscian, and author. He had a wife and 8 kids. Charlie Chaplin was a great man and with a bit of a sad childhood family still made it through the world.
